We hope this message finds you well and filled with the same passion for our mission that has driven you to volunteer with us. As we continue on our journey towards health equity in the fight against pancreatic cancer, we recognize the critical role that diversity and representation play in achieving our goals.
Our new guiding principle is clear: Mission-led and volunteer powered with health equity at the center. To embody this principle, we must take a closer look at the makeup of our volunteer community. We believe that in order to help everyone affected by pancreatic cancer, we need a diverse group of volunteer leaders who can authentically represent the patients and communities we serve.
Why is diversity so crucial? It is the key to reaching every person impacted by pancreatic cancer, ensuring our services are accessible and beneficial to all. To achieve this, we need a variety of voices at our table, advising us, championing our work, and helping us connect with new communities who may have been inadvertently left behind.
This is where you come in. We are asking you to participate in a demographic survey, designed to help us understand the composition of our volunteer community. Then we will cross-reference the make-up of our volunteer base with that of our communities, allowing us to set meaningful goals and plans.
The survey includes questions about gender identification, pronoun preference, and ethnicity. We understand the sensitivity of these topics, and we assure you that all information provided will be treated with the utmost confidentiality and used only for the purpose of improving our volunteer programs.
