In Conversation: A Mission Message from Donna Manross

As we celebrate Black History Month, we want to share a couple of quick updates on our collective mission critical work. The exciting uptick in the survival rate makes it clear your efforts are working!

Many of you have been assessing and sharing the health needs in your communities and building action plans to identify new audiences who may benefit from our community. These assessments and action plans are tools designed to help us all stay focused on the amazing work we are already doing together through PanCAN PurpleStride, Government Advocacy, and raising awareness about pancreatic cancer and PanCAN Patient Services. We hope they will spark some ideas for ways to include new and important audiences in our efforts.

We are also excited to bring the themes and takeaways from your assessments and plans to PanCAN’s inaugural Health Equity Committee, which we are publicly launching this month. This committee is made up of experts and influencers from across the nation and is working with us to address health disparities, starting first with a specific focus on Black and African American communities disproportionately impacted by pancreatic cancer. The insights from your assessments and action plans will play a pivotal role in shaping this impactful initiative.

Stay tuned for more updates. Your ongoing dedication and hard work are instrumental in all that we accomplish.
