Message from the Volunteer Advisory Council
There is a lot happening at PanCAN this month – November is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month (PCAM)! This year, World Pancreatic Cancer Day is on Thursday, November 20, 2025, and PanCAN is hosting a “Research Roundtable” webinar (see more information below). November is a month when we are focused on raising awareness and outreaching to new groups, when planning starts to gear up for PanCAN PurpleStride, and when several PurpleLight ceremonies occur in cities around the country.
PCAM is a great time to reach out to your community to raise awareness and cultivate an understanding about pancreatic cancer for people who have been or may be affected by pancreatic cancer. PanCAN has provided several resources to help us share what pancreatic cancer is and the importance of early detection.
Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month Resources This year, PanCAN has chosen “Shine a Light on Pancreatic Cancer” as the campaign slogan. The purpose is to provide education about the risks and symptoms of the disease, providing ways to honor survivors and loved ones who we have lost to pancreatic cancer and to help everyone identify risks and symptoms.
Did you know that we will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of World Pancreatic Cancer Day and the establishment of the World Pancreatic Cancer Coalition with PanCAN as a founding member?! What a great way to work collaboratively to raise global awareness for pancreatic cancer!
This year, PanCAN is hosting a research roundtable with top scientists and leaders in the pancreatic cancer field on World Pancreatic Cancer Day, November 20, 2025, entitled, Research Roundtable: Advancements in Earlier Detection of Pancreatic Cancer.
Please join PanCAN for this important webinar and wear your purple!
Our PurpleStride volunteers are working to build teams and coach participants. It’s a great time to reach out to your past partners, Team captains and fundraisers to make sure they are gearing up for PurpleStride on Sat., April 25.
PurpleLight ceremonies are also taking place in many cities across the country this month. PurpleLight gathers survivors, families and friends who have felt the impact of pancreatic cancer, and it is a wonderful opportunity to invite new people into your community. PurpleLight is a powerful evening of remembrance, hope and community in the fight against pancreatic cancer. For those already in planning mode, here’s a reminder of the PurpleLight Toolkit, and you can find a PurpleLight event near you. Learn more at www.purplelight.org.
